Safe Sport Training
Highlands Trailblazers strives to create an environment that is safe and supportive for all our members and remains committed to implementing Nordiq Canada’s Safe Sport framework in all aspects of our club.
We also urge parents and guardians of minor athletes to complete two online e-learning modules: Safe Sport Training and Understanding the Rule of Two, so families have a shared understanding of what good Safe Sport practices are, how they protect everyone, and how to support their child and the club.
Safe Sport Training Benefits Everyone
- Trust: All interactions involving minors are transparent, visible, and accountable, building trust between families, coaches, and athletes.
- Protection: The tools protect not just athletes, but coaches, volunteers, and parents too, by setting guidelines that prevent misunderstandings, miscommunications, or situations that could compromise safety or reputation.
- Peace of mind: If you know what safe sport looks like, you’ll feel more confident sending your child to training or events.
- Performance: Athletes thrive when they feel physically and emotionally safe. A safe culture fosters focus, self-confidence, teamwork, resilience, and enjoyment — all of which support athlete development.
- Leadership: When parents, staff, and volunteers commit to these practices, it raises the standard for the whole club and sport community. It role-models that we care, and that we take seriously the wellbeing of every young person involved.
